Sr. Hardware Architect Optical sensors, ASML – Development and Engineering

knarren_b_smallBastiaan Knarren obtained his BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Eindhoven. His PhD also was done at that university, in cooperation with the Physic department. His PhD was received in 2003. After his PhD he worked one year as researcher in the same group before joining a start-up company for one year. He joined VIRO Engineering in June 2005 and worked as contract engineer full-time for ASML.

In August 2008 he moved to ASML as lead designer to develop new sensors for the EUV machine. During the past years he worked on many optical sensors under development at ASML as designer, lead designer and team leader. In his current position as Sr. hardware architect sensors, he is technically responsible for the sensors measuring the dose and lens quality of the ASML machines as well as the sensors measuring the position of the water to recycle in that machine.
