Quido Valent PhD

Cluster manager Life Sciences & Health, Amsterdam Economic Board, and independent contractor (ZZP)

valent_q_smallQuido was trained as technician and started his PhD 2yrs after he graduated (HLO). He finished his PhD at the VU (Molecular Microbiology) in exactly 4yrs time (subject: protein secretion in E. coli). His post-doc period (6yrs) he spent at Immunology, (NKI, Amsterdam) working on T-cell signal transduction. After 13yrs on the lab, he became Senior Consultant Life Sciences at subsidy advisory Hezelburcht, spending 8yrs building a network and learning about biobusiness.

Meanwhile he was involved in the development of a new type of biotech-VC fusion company (NewMediX), that unfortunately did not launch. Since October 2012 Quido works as Cluster Manager Life Sciences at the Amsterdam Innovation Motor (renamed to Amsterdam Economic Board in 2013) and as independent contractor advising (young) biotech.

Quido Valent participated in the speed date session of the PCDI Postdoc Retreat Life Sciences 2013.
